Man Begging for Money Offered Job at Dealership. When He Says No, They Put up Sign Going Viral
This story is so indicative of our society today. It raises so many feelings about a variety of issues, many of them controversial.
Panhandling, conning, and preying on people’s generosity are just a few. Being kind, sympathetic, charitable, and willing to lend a helping hand are on the other side of this debate.
It’s unfortunate that these two ideologies clash on occasion. But it’s the age-old problem that people are out there always willing to take advantage of a situation.
There are many that believe it’s human nature to take the path of least resistance. Sometimes it’s hard to not take “the easy way out” even if it is tainted with dishonesty or insincerity.
This man was seen in Brighton, Michigan recently, panhandling for any donation. It took place near a car dealership, also know as a place where people work for a living.
Now the folks at this dealership were not blind to a cause. They were more than willing to help this individual.
However, the idea they came up with was not to the man’s liking. They were going to give him a job.
That’s right, employment! They offered him a job that paid $10 an hour.
It’s unsure how or what brought this “beggar” to this state, but he has come to accept it as his best alternative. You would think that a job opportunity would be a welcome start and an upturn of good luck.
He refused the job offer. To make matters worse, when he turned down the offer he made reference to the fact he makes more money panhandling than anyone at the dealership gets paid.
That was not a wise thing to say. The dealership people did not take kindly to this type of commentary on their employees, so they took it a step further, and put up a sign.
It makes you wonder what happens with the money you donate to people on the side of the road. In this case, it became obvious in a hurry.
Reports came in that soon after the dealership put up the sign, police checked on the man. It was reported via Reddit the man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
Then again this raises another problem. For some people jail isn’t a big deal — it’s a way to get three square meals a day, a comfy cot, and recreational opportunities.
Remember, give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. But, teach him to fish and — well — he has to want to fish first!
